The next Cricket World Cup will be held in the year 2011. It is scheduled to take place in the Indian sub-continent. The tournament will be hosted by four South Asian cricket playing countries; India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The game will take place during the months of February and March 2011, with the first match being played on 9th February, 2011. On 30th April, 2009, ICC originally announced the countries which will be hosting the Cricket World Cup 2011. However, on 17th April 2009 ICC were stripped of Pakistan its rights as co-host of the Cricket World Cup 2011due to ongoing concerns about the "uncertain security situation" prevailing in the country, especially in the aftermath of the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore. However, it is also said that Pakistan Cricket Board hinted that they may refuse to take part in the Cricket World Cup if they are asked to play in India. Fourteen teams will be participating in the upcoming events in Cricket World Cup 2011. However, these fourteen teams are categorized into two groups of seven teams each. The seven teams will compete against each other once with the top four from each group qualifying for the quarter-finals. The format ensures that each team gets to play a minimum of six matches even if they are ruled out of the tournament due to early defeats. The countries which will be participating for the Cricket World Cup 2011 are Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Canada, Netherlands and Kenya. However, the planned semi-finals are R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and PCA Stadium in Mohali, India. The final match will be held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
